The biological processe for the dissolution and recovery of metals from ores, concentrates an wastes is one of thw most mdern techs to be applied in the near future for mining sector. Bacteria are able to degradate some heavy metals emplying many mechanisms given an added value to the metallutgical process.

Biomining - the future of sulfide ore treatment

The book is one of the best and comprehensive references for the subject. It contains chapters written by prominent engineers and hydrometallurgists who conducted research programs and detailed design of biomining processes all over the world.
Here you can find how the biooxidation treatment of different sulfide ores was implemented on practice. The subject is very innovative and considered to be the future of sulfide ore processing as it's very environmental friendly and cost effective.
The only drawback of the book is its price, although it is worth the money.
The book might be useful for mining project managers and consultants who participate in development of a strategy for exploiting a sulfide ore deposit. As you learn the possibilities of biomining you can elaborate a better way to treat sulfide ores if the biooxidation is applicable in a particular case. Also you can easily contact engineering and research companies that have substantial experience in biomining as all participated parties are mentioned in the chapters.
