Save money with a Haynes Repair Manual

This repair manual has saved me a lot of money. I replaced the a/c temperature sensor in my wife's '06 Mercury Milan. It would have cost me $700 if not for doing it myself. I paid $22 dollars for the sensor and did the labor myself. The manual showed me how to remove the dash, yes I had the dash sitting in my wife's lap with the steering wheel against her and the other side of it in the passenger seat. I have never unplugged so many wiring harness connectors or removed a dash before.
I also saved money changing the a/c compressor myself too.
This manual has paid for itself many times over.

Useful but be careful

The book is not entirely accurate for every model Fusion. For example, it says my model 2010 I4 engine has a power steering fluid reservoir. This is not the case since that model has EPAS and doesn't use power steering fluid.
Also, after reading about flushing my coolant at 30K miles I got excited and went ahead and did it. Afterwards I checked the maintenance schedule from Ford and they said it's not necessary until 105K miles...and the coolant that came out of my Fusion looked clean as if brand new.
Also, about the coolant flush- the manual says if the bleed screw is plastic (which mine is), you only need to turn it a quarter turn counterclockwise. When I did this not all of the coolant drained and I had to unscrew it several turns for the bleed valve to open. So be careful about following their instructions word for word. If I had not loosened it more I would have likely gotten an air bubble in the system when refilling and that would have caused my engine to overheat.
All in all it's a decent book with a lot of info and useful pictures, but I recommend cross-checking and approaching your car with care and common sense in addition to the book.

OK for home use

The manual leaves out many diagrams that are found on the official manuals from the car makers. Several steps that others show aren't in the order of operations.
Its ok for body work, but when entering in the realm of the engine/drivetrain it lacks the continuity that others have shown on line or on a u-tube video.
