Wonderful conversation piece between 3 generations of women

I picked up this book by chance at a theatre bookstore in Toronto. On reading in for the first time, I was mostly amused at the wit of it and the honesty with which the women expose their deepest fears. On re-reading it, I was touched by the degree to which a very real sense of failure in one of the characters appears perfetly riduculous to the others. In showing this with wit and warmth, McClelland Glass tackles one of the most important and most misunderstand issues in communications between people: not everyone places the same weight on the same things, and one would be well served by remembering that.
I eventually decided that I wanted to see the play performed and so am directing it for Tokyo International Players. Having "lived" with it for the last three months, it is still fresh and very good fun.

A funny and touching play

I saw this play performed in San Antonio several years ago and I've been longing for a copy of my own. The dialogue is absolutely hilarious, though the play deals with a girl who's being led astray by her boyfriend, and the concern of her single mother and her two grandmothers. A scene involving a crossword puzzle becomes a critique of each woman's lifestyle. These women have very different personalities and must overcome the communication barriers they've created for themselves before they can work out their problems. An excellent, moving, and very funny play.

Easy to read for a SAS book. Good reference for the basics.

The simple stuff that is difficult to find in the
SAS manuals is right there with a quick example.
I almost always try to find my answers here first,
and I have pretty good luck. The SAS institute
should look over books like this befor releasing
their next round of manuals.

About the Author
Anne Hammick has sailed offshore for over 20 years. Since her first Atlantic crossing in 1975, she has completed a further seven Atlantic passages, six as skipper/navigator. Gavin McLaren was a Royal Naval officer for 20 years specialising in navigation. He then became a sail training instructor and now concentrates on freelance writing and yacht deliveries. John Lawson has spent most of his life at sea and cruised extensively in his own boats. He is the author of a number of RCC Pilotage Foundation titles.

This was a gift for a sailor. I am guessing he liked it and that it has been of use to him. He generally checks out what he wants beforehand and doesn't ask for them unless they are going to help him.

When he first went to Leeds United, and then Manchester United, both times I wanted him at Liverpool, but let me talk about the book. Very candid and thoughtful. pretty much addresses his life and every aspect of his career and the happenings during that time. If you follow the game, you will make connections about things that were said, and the clarity he brings to it. Great book I will read it again sometime.

I think he wrote this book 2/3 years too early. Wait till he retired.

He has a year or 2 in France or the MLS. Then maybe India.

Wonderfull career. Great stories.

A good casual read. Gives a good insight to the day to day life and experiences of a modern pro. Rio seems to be at a time in his career when he can reflect and tells of his clear pathway into life after football.
