The perfect gift!

I thought these and they were supposed to be for me but I had a family member in a discouraging situation and she really needed hope. They are like a deck of playing cards and each day I draw 1 card and on one side is a Bible quote on the other side is an inspirational saying applying to whatever the deck is and it is just so awesome to have a daily message that is for you to uplift and encourage you on days that are so hard. I am keeping some of these in my closet in case I forget a birthday. They are also a gift from the heart and let a person know that you really search for something meaningful for them. They are just so awesome and such a good price!

The bare essentials of repair, but ya gotta hunt for them.

As a Diesel Tempo owner, I was disappointed by this book, but am finding it BARELY sufficient for my projects. In order to complete any project, be prepared to read, and reread this book several times just to find all the relevant information for any given job, as it is necessary to be VERY familiar with this book due to the lack of cross referencing. Many of the steps are vague, and indeed some steps are omitted, ie in order to remove the dash, there is no mention made of having to remove much of the trim, or how that would be done, the illustrations neglect to mention SEVERAL screws, with no helpful hints on removal (for instance the three screws on the top of the dash near the bottom of the windshield which must be removed with a flexible shaft extension if you don't feel like removing the windshield), and merely stating "disconnect the electrical connections" doesn't quite cut it, especially for the first timer. The parts lists are also incomplete, and very confusing, as some parts are listed twice (Quick Start System Control Unit - Glow plug with the Mazda part# = Module - Glow plug Control with the Ford part#, or, like the pre-glow and after-glow relays, are listed only as a switch - glow plug (even the main diesel tech at Ford Service Dept. didn't know that they were the same thing). While much is left to guesswork and - because its a Ford - wild and loose imagination, if you are reasonably handy with a wrench, and into spending a few days pondering how to get at this part or wondering if this is the actual part (The name on the Glow plug control module (Ford's listing name) was Q.G.S Controller DC12V, the wiring diagram called it Diesel Control Module, the number stamped on it didn't match the parts list under either aforementioned name (Ford - E4EE 12M092 AA, Mazda - RF10 18 701A), and none of the other little black boxes under the left side of the dash had any relevant numbers on them either...) and you can't find the Haynes for your car, then this book is a necessity (as it is for me), so buy it, and trade the money you saved on the work your doing yourself for the hassle of doing it the Chiltons way. (BTW if anyone has a resistor or a Q.G.S Controller/diesel control module/glow plug control module/Quick Start System Control Unit that works, pls email me!) Oh and save yourself some headaches and don't buy a ford :)

Great learning resource

I have purchased quite a few books, cds, and online training programs, but none of them are as comprehensive as this one. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a pingyin dictionary that goes both ways? True this is just a mini dictionary, but it is most useful. The book also deals with structure without burying you in grammar and grammatical terminology. For the price, this is a really good acquisition. I noticed one reviewer had complained about the vocabulary content. In my opinion that is ridiculous. No one can learn vocabulary for you - you have to do it yourself and there are many resources out there such as BYKI online. No book can do it for you. The point of a training resource is to teach you structure and application using typical content. The only thing I would have liked in this book is pronunciation in brackets for the vocabulary lists. The book relies on your learning the initials and finals of pingyin, and one really must do that first before trying to continue if you want to avoid learning wrong pronunciation. (and no! pingyin bears little resemblence to English phonetics - you have to relearn your alphabet with a whole new set of sounds in many cases eg. c = ts, zh = j, z = ds, etc.)

I'm a native Chinese, teaching an adult beginner Chinese class in my community as a volunteer. I've been looking for a suitable text book but failed to find one, until a friend recommended this book. This book doesn't teach reading/writing Chinese characters and is suitable as introductory material for a course up to 1/2 year length.

The pros: The book attempts to explain the language phenomena from the viewpoint of English. For example, it emphasizes that Chinese sentences have more rigid structures. It's good for an English speaker to understand the differences and the fine points that many other books fail to explain.

The cons: The dialogues are somewhat forced at the best and outrageous sometimes. For example, see this exchange in Chapter 8 when a couple is trying to rent a room:

Renter: Are there cockroaches in your rooms?
Landlord: No. There aren't cockroaches in our rooms. There're one or two roaches in my house. But it doesn't matter - they won't bite.

Anyway, I still plan to use this book as a reference book for my class. As for dialogues, I'll pick and choose, certainly skipping cockroaches.

I love this book!

Who knows how many books come out every year on the Tarot. The vast majority of them seem to be the same book paraphrased over and over again-penned perhaps by robots sitting in La Maison Dieu. There are exceptions, of course. Alejandro Jodorowsky's book being one that comes to mind.

None but this one, as far as I know, propose such exquisite and impossible ideas as this: "Our aim is not to arrive at an ultimate truth, but to stop, albeit briefly, at an exception made true." or "Instead of using a sequence of cards to arrive at some form of meaning, meaning-making will be the means through which we arrive at a sequence of cards, in a process that would have the Marseille Tarot shuffling itself."

For those of us nourished by the milk of dada, surrealism, and all that followed, and all that came before .. for those of us who incline towards the artist's, or the poet's sensibility, this book is a delight. It is not, as another reviewer has said, a crib or an introduction to the Tarot. But it would be a great second book to read on the Tarot, wherever you may have begun.

At all costs, do not buy this book if you are looking for a clear and concise guide to reading Tarot cards. Instead, what Enrique proposes is a radical perspective which brings the images to vibrant life through analogical thinking and poetic metaphor. In true dervish style, Enriquez challenges us into terrains uncharted by almost any other Tarot theorist out there--to a place where profound understanding precedes intellectual rationale and genuine art is made in the moment. You have been warned...

Pearls of wisdom from a real leader

The latest book from Steve Murrell, - [...] - founding pastor of Victory Churches in the Philippines and president of Every Nation Churches worldwide. The book begins with a story from Pastor Steve's youth, where he recalls his high school relay team coming in first place only to be disqualified because they forgot the baton. Based on the premise that it doesn't matter how well we do if we forget to pass the baton he goes on to explain the importance of passing the "baton" of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the next generation. The stories in this book are based on Steve's personal experience as a cross-cultural missionary and church planter as well as his current role as leader of an international movement of churches.

100 Years From Now: Sustaining a Movement for Generations is definitely a manifesto for the Every Nation movement in particular, but it is much more. The principals in this book are timeless and would benefit any Christian who is serious about "passing the baton" and obeying the Great Commission of Christ. Steve Murrell's writing style is enjoyable and very easy to read. I would recommend this book to all my friends!

Made me question myself too: 100 years from now; what have I left behind, as an individual, as a minister (if I may say) of the Gospel, as a parent, as a wife, as a friend? If I live 100 years from now, who have I become in my son and his children and his children's children's eyes? Am I a part to sustain the movement for generations? It can be a tool for devotions too.

a great fire starter!

This great book helped me rekindle my fire. Hearing why others have gone and obeyed reminded me why we went and encouraged me to go again. This book also served as a great daily devotional, and I recommend it to all who would heed the Great Commision.

About the Author
Jonathan Cowie has spent many years conveying the views of learned societies in the biological sciences to policy-makers and in science communication (promotion, publishing and press liaison). His earlier postgraduate studies related to energy and the environment. He is a former Head of Science Policy and Books at the Institute of Biology (UK). He is also author of Climate and Human Change: Disaster or Opportunity (1998).

Best Book Available

Jonathan Cowie's 2008 volume is the best book available on a critically important subject: how climate change affects life on earth. The book has an admirably broad perspective. Its content is rich and robust. Although Cowie's book is not as easy read (and could have been edited further), it is well worth the effort. Required reading for anyone who wants to understand our world.

An EXCELLENT academic treatment of a serious issue

This is really a textbook, rather than something targeted at a general lay audience. It is NOT an "easy read" and is not for the faint of heart. But...for those who are interested in the real sceince of climate and climate change, this book contains a wealth of information. I consider it an indispensable addition to my library. Be prepared to read carefully and put in the effor to understand the evidence from the past and the implications for the future, Those who are intimidated by scientific language and scientific analysis will find it heavy going. Climate change skeptics will attempt to grasp every nugget of uncertainty or amiguity--and there are those--but this IS science, not fairy stories about the world as we wish it were. The skeptics will find little comfort in Cowie's careful analysis and documentation of changes in climate over the course of history. I do recomend that those without a background in climatology or meteorology read Barry & McKim's "Essentials of the Earth's Climate System" first.

The Cowie book provides very detailed look at the climates of the past. [A good background in geology and geological history is also helpful.]. From this analysis, we can learn a great deal about potential future scenarios for the earth's climate. This is as sober and sane an analysis of the climate issue as I have seen.

One of the best books on climate change I've read

And I've read a lot of them, over 3 dozen. This book is packed with details about how the climate changed in the past, including biological factors, which can be important. The author doesn't hide the uncertainties and often gives more than one theory for the cause of past changes. He then writes about current climate changes and about future possibilities. It is over 500 pages, so it is not a quick read. But once you read this book, you will know far more about this extremely important subject than the vast majority of people, including probably all our politicians.
